All adults involved with children within our club in any capacity must complete the FAI/Garda vetting process. All Garda vetting applications for the Football Association of Ireland have been processed online from 5th September 2016.
For new Garda vetting applications, individuals should use the new Garda Vetting Invitation form and the Garda Vetting ID Validation form (see link below). To fully submit an application, they need to complete the form/s and give them along with identification documents to the club’s Child Welfare Officer (Micheal Lenihan), who will then forward to the FAI.
On receipt of a the Vetting Invitation Form, Garda ID Validation form and copies of their identification, the FAI will email the applicant an invitation to complete the remainder of the Garda vetting process online. Following this, the applicant will receive a tracking number which they can use to track the current status of their Garda vetting application.
If a Garda vetting applicant is aged 16 or 17, the above documentation must be accompanied by a Parental/Guardian Consent form (see link below). Failure to do so will deem the application invalid and it will not be processed.

Santa Claus took time out of his busy pre-Christmas schedule to pay a visit to our Newport Nippers last Friday evening. He was overheard telling one of his elves that all the Newport boys & girls are on the nice list. Photos of the big man’s visit can be viewed here.
Below are links to some informative short videos that will give coaches, players and parents a very good visual display of the new FAI Player Development Plans for the younger age groups from under 6 to under 12. Everyone involved with under age teams should take a look and familiarise themselves with the changes.
As part of the new FAI Player Development Plan, there are no match scores or league tables being recorded for non-competitive games (U11 and under). These games are all about player development and allowing the young players express themselves on the football pitch without being concerned about scorelines and league positions. Other clubs, may show results etc. but as a club, Newport Town AFC will not be displaying any results etc. on our Facebook page or club website.
A link to the FAI’s Player Development Plan is here.
Newport Town A.F.C. will hold its registration night next Monday 17th from 4pm to 8pm in Derryleigh Park. Registration fees for this year are €60 for the first child and €40 thereafter. All the coaches are looking forward to the 2015/16 season.
