Garda Vetting

Garda Vetting Image
All adults involved with children within our club in any capacity must complete the FAI/Garda vetting process. All Garda vetting applications for the Football Association of Ireland have been processed online from 5th September 2016.

For new Garda vetting applications, individuals should use the new Garda Vetting Invitation form and the Garda Vetting ID Validation form (see link below). To fully submit an application, they need to complete the form/s and give them along with identification documents to the club’s Child Welfare Officer (Micheal Lenihan), who will then forward to the FAI.

On receipt of a the Vetting Invitation Form, Garda ID Validation form and copies of their identification, the FAI will email the applicant an invitation to complete the remainder of the Garda vetting process online. Following this, the applicant will receive a tracking number which they can use to track the current status of their Garda vetting application.

If a Garda vetting applicant is aged 16 or 17, the above documentation must be accompanied by a Parental/Guardian Consent form (see link below). Failure to do so will deem the application invalid and it will not be processed.

U8s & Newport Nippers U7s Training

Please note that training for U8 players on Friday nights (7-8pm) is ONLY for players born in 2010. There are currently much younger players turning up and they are just too young for this session and there is not enough space on the astro-turf for the number of players. Training sessions for the Newport Nippers U7s (players born in 2011 & 2012) will commence on Saturday, September 30 from 9.30-10.30am.

We would ask at least one parent/guardian of each child to remain on-site in Derryleigh Park at all times during the training session. The Derryleigh Dugout will be open at the side of the clubhouse for hot drinks and refreshments, while the future soccer stars do their thing. If you are willing to lend a hand during the training session, please make yourself known to the coaches as all help is greatly appreciated. Club registration forms will also be available on Saturday morning to be completed by parents/guardians. The Nippers membership fee is €40. We look forward to welcoming new players to the ever-growing NTAFC family.

Santa Claus visits Derryleigh Park

Santa and his Elves
Santa Claus took time out of his busy pre-Christmas schedule to pay a visit to our Newport Nippers last Friday evening. He was overheard telling one of his elves that all the Newport boys & girls are on the nice list. Photos of the big man’s visit can be viewed here.

FAI Player Development Plan

Below are links to some informative short videos that will give coaches, players and parents a very good visual display of the new FAI Player Development Plans for the younger age groups from under 6 to under 12. Everyone involved with under age teams should take a look and familiarise themselves with the changes.

4V4 for U6 & U7       5V5 for U8 & U9        7V7 for U10 & U11       9V9 for U12

FAI Player Development Plan

As part of the new FAI Player Development Plan, there are no match scores or league tables being recorded for non-competitive games (U11 and under). These games are all about player development and allowing the young players express themselves on the football pitch without being concerned about scorelines and league positions. Other clubs, may show results etc. but as a club, Newport Town AFC will not be displaying any results etc. on our Facebook page or club website.

A link to the FAI’s Player Development Plan is here.

Summer Soccer Camp – What a week.

Happy Campers
What a great week! 5 days, 150 kids, 10 coaches, 2 helpers, 1 astro-turf pitch, 2 grass pitches, 100’s of goals, 1,000’s of smiles and countless hours of fun. All good things must come to an end and so it was this afternoon when all of the children received their certificates for their participation in the Newport Town AFC FAI Summer Soccer School.

The club was delighted to host its second summer camp and we hope that every boy & girl who took part had a great time and made lots of new friends.

The camp doesn’t just happen by accident and there are lots of people to thank. Firstly, the coaches who made the camp such a special & fun place from the first minute to the last. Thanks guys, you were all simply amazing. Continue reading
