Newport U10 Blue team welcomed Corbally United to Derryleigh Park this morning for their 1st game of the season. Captain for the day was Liam Coffey and led Newport off to a strong start passing well and working strong as a team. Cillian Collins led the play from goals to a backline of Aaron O’Flaherty and Brian McCabe. Midway through the first half after great teamwork from Calvin Doyle midfield, Liam Coffey and Sean Wrynn up front the ball was passed to Cathal McNamara who scored the opening goal.
Newport kept the lead in the second half where Cillian was supported well in goals with Conor Sweeney and Dara McGrath in the backline. Luke Fitzgerald worked well in midfield along with Harry Lee up front for some near chances and Christopher O’Connor also worked well in defence. Newport scored again from an indirect free kick and Aaron O’Flaherty put the ball in the back of the net. Corbally had the chance to make a comeback scoring a goal from a penalty.
There was great team effort and it was a great start to the season and well done to all the players. Thanks to all the parents for the support on the sideline.

Monday, May 16 2016 (Knocklisheen)
On a warm Monday evening the Newport U10 yellow team travelled into Limerick to take on Parkville.
Newport started the first half shooting up the hill and were attacking right from the kick off. Our midfield of Ciaran Carey, Evan Moran and David Whelton tormented Parkville for the whole half and only some great goalkeeping and great defending kept Parkville in the game. Eventually Evan Moran found a way through and scored a great goal. Parkville were not completely out of it though and counter attacked well but Joe Crowley and James Anderson dug in and defended well but not long before half time Parkville found a way through and scored. Newport did not allow their heads to drop and fought back and Evan Moran again scored for the yellows before half time.
In the second half shooting down the hill there was only one team in it and Evan Moran added another goal to complete his hat-trick and not to be out done Ciaran Carey also scored his own hat-trick with David Whelton completing the scoring late on.
Another great performance from the whole team.
The squad on the day was Conor O’Brien, James Anderson, Joe Crowley, Stephen Ryan, Owen Grant, Ciaran Carey, Evan Moran and David Whelton.

Our mid fielders Cillian Collins & Conor Molamphy worked hard to keep Newport in the game & Conor scored his 2nd hat trick in 2 consecutive games. Luke Kennedy as always, put in a great performance in goals.

U10 Reds v Regional
Saturday, April 30 2016 (Derryleigh Park)
Newport U10 Red Team played Regional United on Sat 30th April in Derryleigh. We played against a strong wind in the 1st half with Zach Ryan opening the scoring with the first goal. Regional made many strong attempts to score but James Delahunty & David O’Brien kept a very strong defence line. Conor Molamphy & Alex O’Neill & Cillian Collins did very well in midfield & Martin McCabe in the forwards. Then Conor Molamphy finally got his 1st score of the game which he so well earned. Luke Kennedy made some powerful saves in the first half. A great second half from Newport but Regional were unlucky not to score as they had some good chances but great defending from Damien O’Brien & Dylan Jones never let them pass. Conor Molamphy continued to play outstanding football & scored 2 more goals. We would like to thank everyone who supported us on the day.

U10 Yellows v Mungret Regional
Friday, April 29 2016 (Derryleigh Park)
On Friday evening Newport U10 Yellows entertained Mungret U10’s at Derryleigh.
Newport had a slow start and struggled at first to get into the game but by half time had scored two very good goals through Senan Ryan and Adam Power with Nathan Keppel having a particularly good game in midfield.
The second half was a different story with Newport firmly controlling the match and it did not take Senan Ryan long to score two more goals to complete his hat-trick with Adam Power completing his shortly after. Continue reading
U10 Yellows v Summerville
Saturday, April 23 2016 (Portland Park)
On a sunny Saturday morning the Newport U-10 yellow team travelled in large numbers to take on Summerville.
Earlier on in the season we had been involved in a great game against Summerville and this one turned out to be no different. The match kicked off and straight away Newport went on the attack with Adam Power, Ciaran Carey and Senan Ryan causing the Summerville defence all sorts of problems and as the half wore on Adam and Senan got on the scoresheet with Darragh Meaney having a fine game in the centre of Midfield. U10 Reds v Regional Utd.
Saturday, April 23 2016 (Crescent College)
Newport U10 Reds made the trip to play Regional United in Crescent College. We got off to a fantastic start with Conor Molamphy scoring the 1st goal in the 1st minute of the game. Our midfielders Damien O’Brien, Alex O’Neill, Cillian Collins & Conor Molamphy played particularly well in covering all the pitch. Zach Ryan scored a superb goal in the 20min of the game with Dylan Jones helping to make it possible. We were unlucky to concede a goal just before half time but as soon as Newport got back out on the pitch in the 2nd half they were determined to score again. Regional United got 2 goals within the 1st 10min of the 2nd half & this put Newport under pressure but they never gave up & continued to work tirelessly throughout the game with Conor Sweeney, Martin McCabe in the backs but unfortunately Regional United scored again. David O’Brien scored a powerful goal in the 20th min of the game. A special mention must go to our Goalkeeper James Delahunty who stepped in as goalie at the last minute & pulled off a string of superb saves throughout the match. We would like to thank all the supporters who came to support the team, it was very much appreciated.
