Well done to our U13A side who wrapped up their league-winning campaign with a comfortable victory over a gallant Lisnagry FC side this evening in Derryleigh Park in front of a large Newport crowd.
The lads dominated the league by winning 13 out of their 14 games and proved to be very worthy champions. Jerry Flynn of the LDSL presented the trophy to co-captains, Aaron Coleman & Shaun Bonfield. This group of players are the most-unassuming and hard-working bunch of young men and are a great credit to their parents, coaches and our club. They go about their job week in, week out without any fuss or drama and on a very even keel. Peter Coleman & Eoin Bonfield have done a brilliant job with the lads and have made very steady progress over the past 3 years. Cup finalists 2 years ago, cup winners last year and league winners this year with the reward of premier league football next season. They are still in the running for the cup with an away semi-final to Aisling next week. Well done lads, enjoy the celebrations but back training on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who turned up to watch the game and stayed around for the post-match celebrations. We hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Newport U13A finished off their league campaign at home to Lisnagry on Wednesday evening in front of a large home support.
With the league already won and no pressure on the game Newport started strongly and were a goal up after 3mins from Shane O’Halloran. Playing some great football they increased their lead in the 15th and 18th minutes with two lovely finishes from Diarmuid O’Riordan. On the 26th minute a corner from Aaron Coleman went straight to the net. Newport, now in a commanding position led 4-0 at half time.

Best Wishes to David Hannon who suffered a bad injury to his nose in the game after a brave header to clear the ball. This shows the overall effort these lads put in this year to win the league. Congrats and well done. Ye can all be proud of this commitment for the rest of your playing careers.
Thanks to Jerry Flynn of the LDSL for being on hand to present the Div 1 league trophy to co-captains, Aaron Coleman & Shaun Bonfield. For the second year running the name of Newport Town AFC will be inscribed on this trophy.

On a lovely spring evening Newport travelled to Regional to play their last away league game of the year .
This game did not set the world alight as it was very stop start from the kick off. Newport trying players in new positions took awhile to adapt and missed some early chances and only really woke up after Regional rattled the cross bar. They then played some nice football and Shane O ‘Halloran finished two good chances to the net to make it 2-0 at half time.
Newport made two changes at half time and they upped the tempo and created numerous chances.
They increased their lead in the second half with goals from Lee Ryan x 2,Diarmuid O ‘Riordan and David Hannon’s first of the season to eventually win 6-0.

Newport Town U13 A squad travelled to Pearse Stadium in Janesboro to play the 12th round of the League on Saturday Morning in glorious weather conditions. The lads knew a draw or a win would see them win the Division 1 title.
They started well and created numerous chances, but could not break down a stubborn defence until some great play from Lee Ryan played in Diarmuid O’Riordan who finished with the aid of a deflection to make it 1-0 at the break.
Newport had played some great football in the first half and fully deserved their half time lead.
Soon after the restart Newport conceded a free out near the sideline and a well worked free kick saw Janesboro score to make it 1-1.
Now Newport upped their game and Diarmuid O’Riordan finished off another great move to make it 2-1.
Diarmuid O’Riordan then fired a great volley off the crossbar and Lee Ryan finished off the rebound. 3-1.
Newport added two further goals from Aaron Coleman, one a volley from outside the box and the second after some neat foot work in the box to make it 5-1 at the finish.
Well done lads, league champs, now roll on the cup. From Team Management.
