Scorers: Aaron Coleman, Conor Brett & O.G.
A full 3 months after their last game Newport U13a team got their season back up and running again with a hard fought 3-1 win against Carew Park. Starting the game level on points with Carew this was an important win and keeps up Newport’s good run of form.
After a long layoff it took a while for the game to get going. There were a few half chances early on. The best chance fell to Ryan O’Keefe who saw his shot saved by the Carew Park keeper.
Newport grew into the game as it the half developed. Jack Ryan and David Healy were dominating at the back and were well supported by Chris Egan and Conor Jones. Conor Brett and Aaron Coleman were winning the midfield battle with Conor Malamphy and Ciaran Carey making good ground on the wings. Ryan O’Keefe was playing well further up the field than usual in the number 10 position while man of the match Alex O’Toole lead the line very effectively and won the ball back high up the pitch on a number of occasions.
Newport took the lead towards the end of the first half when Aaron Coleman made a driving run into the box before been taken down to win a penalty. Aaron took the penalty himself and coolly finished into the corner. Newport were 1-0 up at half time.

Scorers: Nathan Bridgeman 2 & David O’Brien
At long last we finally got to play a league fixture as we traveled to Annacotty to play Aisling on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning.
We started off very well with good possession & had the best of the chances to take the lead. Unfortunately Aisling broke down the right & took their 1st chance of the game to go 1 up. We came right back at them & with a super pass from David O’Brien he found Nathan Bridgeman who put away his chance to make it 1-1. Aisling took control of the last 10 minutes of the 1st half & their pressure told as they put away 2 more goals before halftime to make it 3-1.
We knew we didn’t deserve to be 2 goals behind & started the 2nd half in excellent form with Danny O’Keefe dominating midfield. The Aisling keeper made a poor clearance which David O’Brien picked up & shot from 20 yards out to find the back of the net. 3-2 & the momentum was definitely with us. With some lovely work down the right wing Conor O’Brien put a superb cross into the box which found Nathan Bridgeman who finished off what was the move of the game. 3-3 we knew we could finish off Aisling but chance after chance just kept missing the goal.
It finished 3-3 but this felt like a victory for us. Superb work from all the lads & hopefully the games will come fast and furious over the coming weeks.

Scorers: Nathan Walsh 3
We played our first game at home since the new clubhouse was opened & all the lads loved the comfort of having their own changing rooms.
We went into this game in good spirits after we had beaten Regional at their place a few weeks back. We started the better of the 2 teams with some great chances from Paddy Hussey & Conor O’Brien. Brían Corrigan & David O’Brien were in great form in midfield and from some lovely play from them we scored our first goal after David put a great ball through for Nathan Walsh which he slotted away past the keeper. We created a few more chances before halftime but just couldn’t find the net & unfortunately with a lapse of concentration in our defence we conceded a sloppy goal which made it 1-1 going into half time. Scorers: Conor Molamphy 2, Conor Brett 2 & Alex O’Toole 2
Newport U13a’s had an impressive 6-0 win at home v Parkville on Saturday morning to build on their win away against league leaders Bridge Celtic last time out. This results puts them back in the mix in the league and hopefully they can continue to build on this recent form.
Newport started well and created a few half chances early on. The breakthrough came when Conor Brett had a shot saved but the ball came out to Conor Molamphy who hit a great shot from the edge of the box to put Newport 1-0 up. Newport were playing some nice football and better was to come from Conor Molamphy when he hit a brilliant high shot from well outside the box that dipped into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Scorers: Conor Brett, Alex O’Toole & O.G.
Newport Town travelled to top of the table Bridge Celtic on Saturday morning facing a team with a 100% record in the league to date. Newport produced their best performance of the year to come away with a vital win.
The first 10 minutes were nip and tuck and Newport had to defend a number of early corners as Bridge applied some early pressure. However Newport slowly got a foothold in the game. David Healy was sitting in front of the back four and helped Newport get a foothold in the game. Conor Brett and Aaron Coleman in midfield started to get on the ball with Ryan O’Keefe and Sean Reddington providing width on the flanks and both playing balls in behind the defense for Alex O’Toole to latch on to. There were a couple of half chances but the opening goal came from pressure been applied to the back four by a number of Newport players which led to a corner. Alex O’Toole whipped in the Corner and Newport challenged and the ball hit one of the Bridge defenders and went into the net to put Newport 1 up. Newport then switched off and let Bridge back in the came almost immediately from the kick off. Half time score was 1-1. Continue reading

Scorers: Nathan Walsh 4 & David Whelton
We travelled to Dooradoyle to play Regional on Saturday with a depleted squad. A few of our lads were injured or couldn’t make the game. Dave Grant gave us 2 players from the U12B team Conor O’Brien & David Whelton. Both players played absolutely brilliant as if they were playing with us the whole time. So Mike Lyons & myself(Andrew Gleeson) would like to thank Dave Grant for his help.
The game started off with both teams playing good attacking football. Conor O’Brien was fantastic on the left side of midfield with some lovely runs & crosses into the box. Our midfield of Mikey Carroll, Danny O’Keefe & David O’Brien were outstanding and took control of the game. 10 mins into the game Nathan Walsh was put through with a lovely pass from David O’Brien & he finished with a lovely shot passed the keeper. Nathan grabbed his hat trick before half time with 2 lovely goals. We went in 3-1 at halftime. Continue reading
