Scorers: Kaitlyn Bradshaw 2, Abbie Lenihan & Ava Shinners

Newport u15 girls kicked off their season on Saturday with a hard fought 4 – 2 win against the formidable opposition of Killavilla. After a shaky start, and playing into a severe headwind, Newport went 2-0 down within 15 minutes of kick off, but the girls showed great resolve to break down the Killavilla defence for Kaitlyn Bradshaw to score from an excellent corner. HT score 1-2

The girls started the second half with a renewed energy and the wind at their backs. Their determination and patience paid off with a superb equalizer by Abbie Lenihan followed quickly by another from the boot of Ava Shinners putting Newport into the lead for the first time during the match. Kaitlyn Bradshaw scored her second with 10 minutes to go to finish off the match. FT Result Newport 4 – Killavilla 2
