The course can only be booked online here.
Please be advised this is the only way to book a place on the course! There is a maximum 24 places for the course, so please book early.
FAI Coach Education
Kick Start 1
Venue: Killavilla United AFC
Time & Dates: Sunday 8th March 9.30am – 5.30pm
The course is designed to assist parents and coaches, to introduce children (aged 6-9 years) to fun soccer games and FUNdamental movement skills in a well-structured, stimulating and safe environment.
The club’s Coaching Co-Ordinator, Aidan O’Brien, ran a very well attended and educational training session for the the club’s schoolboy & schoolgirl coaches last Saturday afternoon.
Thanks to all the coaches who gave up their free time to participate in the session and throughout the season. Without these dedicated volunteers, the club would not be where it is today.
Thanks also to our under 12 squad who also helped out and worked hard for the session.
It was a very informative event and the coaches will hopefully implement some of the things they learned today in future training sessions with their teams.
View some pictures from the coaching session.
All involved with the club would like to congratulate our very own Daniel Egan who has been announced as the recipient of the LDSL U11 Div 2 Player of the Year for the season 2013/14.
Daniel had a fantastic season last year that included scoring eight goals and having many assists along the way, he scored the opening goal in our Cup Final win and also won the club’s U11 Player of the Year Award.
Well done Daniel, we’re all very proud of you. Daniel is pictured below with his Dad, Richard.
Well done to NTAFC’s Patricia Kennedy who completed her Kick Start 1 two weeks ago.

Well done also to Keely Lenihan, daughter of our Secretary, Denis Lenihan, who also completed the course.
This Sunday at 2pm, we welcome Clonmel Celtic F.C. to Derryleigh Park for the Munster Junior Cup 4th round tie. This is our second time in three seasons to reach the 4th round, out of town stage (last 32) of the Munster Junior Cup. In 2013, we beat Avondale of Cork in the 4th round before losing out to Douglas Hall in Cork in the last 16. This year we are hoping to go a bit further but to get there we will have to defeat Clonmel Celtic, which will be a major challenge.
To even get to this stage of the competition is in itself a significant achievement. In fact, Newport is one of only 7 teams from the Limerick District League to make it this far and one of only two who currently do not play in the L.D.L. Premier League. The other L.D.L. teams are Moyross, Geraldines, Regional, Aisling Annacotty, Janesboro & Mungret Regional. Continue reading
This Sunday, all roads lead to Derryleigh Park, when Newport Town AFC play host to Clonmel Celtic of the Tipperary Southern District League in the fourth round (last 32) of the Munster Junior Cup.
Clonmel Celtic are the current leaders of the South Tipperary Premier league and will provide us with a mighty challenge.
However Newport will be well up for this game as we are currently in solid form, playing good football and are really looking forward to the encounter.
Kick off is at 2pm and we are hoping for a large home crowd in Derryleigh to give Clonmel a real Newport welcome and to get behind the lads.
Please spread the word and come along and support the lads.
