LDL, U17 Div 2 Cup, Semi-final – Newport Town AFC 6 – 7 Janesboro (Johnny Coyle & Evan Hannon)

Sun, February 15, Derryleigh Park

Newport lose to Janesboro, 7-6 on penalties
1-1 at end of normal time
2-2 after extra time

For those of you who had a few hours to kill this afternoon if you didn’t make it to Derryleigh Park you missed an absolute cracker of a game from our young U17’s. Facing the run away league leaders and cup favorites Janesboro was a stiff task but by god how we rose to it. Continue reading

U17, Div 2, Coonagh Utd 4 – 2 Newport Town AFC (Kevin Ryan & Jordan Ryan)

The lads travelled away to Coonagh on Sunday afternoon and after a good game on a very soft surface came out the wrong end of a 4-2 score line.

Kevin Ryan and Jordan Ryan continued their goal scoring form with a goal each.

The highlight of the game was a full length of the pitch run by Thomas Carroll, dribbling past seven Coonagh tackles to unluckily fire just wide of post with his angled shot.

Newport welcomed back Harry Sheehy from long term injury which will be a plus for the remainder of season.
