Our annual end-of-season awards ceremony took place in a packed Community Centre last Friday and proved once again to be a very enjoyable evening. The size of the crowd and the number of players in attendance really shows that the club continues to get bigger and stronger every year. The club’s Chairperson, Ger Healy welcomed everyone before the Event M.C, Dave Noble gave a rundown of the achievements both on and off the field during the past season including league & cup honours, players selected for league representative teams, sold out Easter & Summer Camps, the growth in playing numbers and developments in Derryleigh Park. As we continue to grow year on year to cater for the youth in the local community, he had a special thanks for the coaches, assistant coaches etc who give endless hours of their time to our young players. The parents were also acknowledged for their continued support and co-operation.

Membership of NTAFC for the coming 2018/2019 season is now open. Membership runs from August to July. As an amateur volunteer based football club, we’ve committed to meeting the repayments on the clubhouse loan in excess of €250,000, bringing the total investment to date of €1.2m in Derryleigh Park. We see this as an investment in our local youth, their future as well as being a valuable resource for our community. Everyone’s support and patronage of the club, helps make our vision a reality.
This coming season, we will have upwards on 400 players playing on over 30 teams from Nippers to the Junior A team. Running a club of this size is a very costly business both on and off the pitch and the membership fee is an integral part of our income.

All adults involved with children within our club in any capacity must complete the FAI/Garda vetting process. All Garda vetting applications for the Football Association of Ireland have been processed online from 5th September 2016.
For new Garda vetting applications, individuals should use the new Garda Vetting Invitation form and the Garda Vetting ID Validation form (see link below). To fully submit an application, they need to complete the form/s and give them along with identification documents to the club’s Child Welfare Officer (Micheal Lenihan), who will then forward to the FAI.
On receipt of a the Vetting Invitation Form, Garda ID Validation form and copies of their identification, the FAI will email the applicant an invitation to complete the remainder of the Garda vetting process online. Following this, the applicant will receive a tracking number which they can use to track the current status of their Garda vetting application.
If a Garda vetting applicant is aged 16 or 17, the above documentation must be accompanied by a Parental/Guardian Consent form (see link below). Failure to do so will deem the application invalid and it will not be processed.

Newport U10 Blue team welcomed Corbally United to Derryleigh Park this morning for their 1st game of the season. Captain for the day was Liam Coffey and led Newport off to a strong start passing well and working strong as a team. Cillian Collins led the play from goals to a backline of Aaron O’Flaherty and Brian McCabe. Midway through the first half after great teamwork from Calvin Doyle midfield, Liam Coffey and Sean Wrynn up front the ball was passed to Cathal McNamara who scored the opening goal.
Newport kept the lead in the second half where Cillian was supported well in goals with Conor Sweeney and Dara McGrath in the backline. Luke Fitzgerald worked well in midfield along with Harry Lee up front for some near chances and Christopher O’Connor also worked well in defence. Newport scored again from an indirect free kick and Aaron O’Flaherty put the ball in the back of the net. Corbally had the chance to make a comeback scoring a goal from a penalty.
There was great team effort and it was a great start to the season and well done to all the players. Thanks to all the parents for the support on the sideline.

Monday, May 16 2016 (Knocklisheen)
On a warm Monday evening the Newport U10 yellow team travelled into Limerick to take on Parkville.
Newport started the first half shooting up the hill and were attacking right from the kick off. Our midfield of Ciaran Carey, Evan Moran and David Whelton tormented Parkville for the whole half and only some great goalkeeping and great defending kept Parkville in the game. Eventually Evan Moran found a way through and scored a great goal. Parkville were not completely out of it though and counter attacked well but Joe Crowley and James Anderson dug in and defended well but not long before half time Parkville found a way through and scored. Newport did not allow their heads to drop and fought back and Evan Moran again scored for the yellows before half time.
In the second half shooting down the hill there was only one team in it and Evan Moran added another goal to complete his hat-trick and not to be out done Ciaran Carey also scored his own hat-trick with David Whelton completing the scoring late on.
Another great performance from the whole team.
The squad on the day was Conor O’Brien, James Anderson, Joe Crowley, Stephen Ryan, Owen Grant, Ciaran Carey, Evan Moran and David Whelton.
