Girl power was clearly in evidence with 63 girls taking part in our second FAI Soccer Sisters Easter Camp. Lots of fun, smiles and friendship not to mention some excellent football were on display. Well done to all the girls and their coaches and special mention to camp co-ordinator and head coach, Aidan O’Brien for all the hard work put into making this such a fun camp for all the girls. Thanks also to all the committee members and volunteers who ensured that the camp went off without a hitch. Looking forward to next year already! In the meantime, we have the summer camps in July & August to look forward to. NTAFC, the soccer club that never stands still. Click here to see lots of images from the camp.

Newport Town AFC U11 girls travelled down to Killaloe on Sat morning to play Lough Derg in the NTSFL. Newport started the match the stronger and scored early in the first half with a cracking free kick from Shauna Pearson who curled the ball into the top corner. Lough Derg rallied and continued to put pressure on the Newport defence who eventually conceded an equalising goal midway through the first half. The match ebbed and flowed and there was very little between the two sides with Newport managing a second goal from Amelia Healy. Continue reading

Newport Town girls faced neighbours Birdhill this morning in Derryleigh Park in the U11 NTSFL non-competitive League. Newport Town were hoping to maintain their unbeaten record in this division and to continue their run of good form.
This encounter was also unusual in the fact that all the Newport and Birdhill girls play camogie together, but friendships had to be put aside for the duration of the match. Both teams started well and the first half was a very close tight affair. Both sides had chances with Newport going in just ahead at half time. Continue reading

Newport Town AFC U11 girls team started their 2105/16 season in the North Tipperary League with a win over Knigh Utd. All the 13 girls in the panel played their part when called upon. Our goalie Aoife Kennedy kept a clean sheet was always in control of her area. Our defence of Amelia Healy, Mollie O Hora, Sadbh Lenihan and Eimear Ryan were resolute in keeping Knigh Utd at bay.
Our midfield of Shauna Pearson, Eryn Kennedy, Jane Hurley and Heather O Neill were purposeful in both attack and helping out the defence when called upon.
Our attack of Emily Hurley, Robyn Moloney, Laura Finn and Grainne Power put severe pressure on the Knigh Utd defence and goalkeeper.
The players have improved immensely since last season and are working hard at training with their coaches Micheal Lenihan and John O Hora. This performance should give them confidence to push on for the rest of their matches in the NTSFL U11 League.
