Scorers: Abbie Lenihan 2, Chelsea King 2 & Shauna Pearson
Clodiagh arrived at Derryleigh with a young side but they matched us on the field for the first half. Our only breakthrough was from Abbie after a number of passes through the midfield. In fairness to the Newport girls, they tried new set plays with Emily, Caragh and Sarah going close. Continue reading

Scorers: Abbie Lenihan 4 & Shauna Pearson 2
We travelled to Drombane on a very cold February morning for this league fixture. A big thank you to Clodiagh for allowing us to have a mini birthday party, for Aoife & Eryn and a karaoke (music by Abbie).
The first half was slow to ignite because of the cold but 2 goals by Shauna put a bit of life into us. In the 2nd half, the girls pressed forward with some nice team build up which led to Abbie scoring 4 goals. All in all a good run out for the girls.

Scorers: Abbie Lenihan 4, Shauna Pearson & Caragh Flynn
We welcomed our close neighbours Birdhill to Derryleigh and what a local derby it was. We started brightly but didn’t take our opportunities. Birdhill caught us napping and scored on the break. The girls regrouped with Robyn and Emily going close before Abbie scored a hat-trick with 2 coming from fine solo runs. Sarah split the defense with an excellent pass for Shauna to coolly finish. A mix up in defense allowed Birdhill to score with the last kick of the 1st half. Continue reading

Scorers: Abbie Lenihan 2 & Caragh Flynn
On a wet and windy day, the girls showed what it means to work as a team. Due to illness and injuries, we could just about field 11 players. In the 1st half, with the cross wind in our favour, we played most of the game in Borrisokane’s half and Abbie Lenihan scored 2 goals. Abbie’s 2nd was a fine strike from 25yds. With Sarah and Robyn covering a lot of ground in the midfield, Shauna and Emily were doing their best to control their crosses in the windy conditions. Continue reading

Scorers: Caragh Flynn 4 & Shauna Pearson
On a day when a lot of fixtures were postponed due to the weather , Derryleigh was in perfect condition for the visit of BT Harps. We started strongly and a great cross from Leah on the right wing led to Caragh scoring her 1st goal for the club. Another fantastic run by Abbie, who then split the defense for Caragh to score her 2nd. BT quickly responded with a goal of their own. Caragh completed her 1st half hat-trick with a wonderful strike after some fine midfield play from Sarah, Robyn, Aisling & Aoife. But just as the 1st half was ending, a mix-up in our box gave BT their 2nd. Continue reading
U14 Squad v Ballymackey
Saturday, December 9 2017 (Ballinree)
Scorer: Shauna Pearson 2
We travelled to Ballymackey hoping to continue our winning ways. On a very heavy field, the girls pressed forward from the start but the home defence held strong with some notable blocks and saves from shots by Abbie, Leah & Sarah. With Aisling, Robyn & Aoife also getting into the box, the breakthrough came when the ball was passed back to Shauna, who shot from outside the box which gave the keeper no chance. We introduced our new signing Caragh to the game and she added an extra dimension to our play.
In the 2nd half, our keeper Emma pushed our back line of Eryn, Jane, Mara, Nadine & Mollie further up the field which closed down any Ballymackey attack. With space now a premium, Shauna once again shot from outside the box to double our lead. With the game all but over, the girls relaxed too soon and Ballymackey scored a late consolation goal with a fine solo run by their forward.

Scorers: Abbie Lenihan 4, Shauna Pearson 3, Eryn Kennedy 2, Aoife Kennedy 2, Leah Moran, Robyn McNamara & Aisling O’Gorman
We welcomed Loch Derg to Derryleigh on Saturday and the girls were on the attack from the start. Abbie scored early on and that settled the team down, with Shauna scoring a hat-trick in the first half. Eryn and Aisling adding to the scoreline before half time. Majority of Lough Derg’s attacks were dealt with by our back line. Any ball that did break through was capably handled by Emma, in goals.
With our midfield dominating, Aoife, Robyn McNamara and Leah added their names to the score sheet in the second half with Abbie scoring a hat-trick to bring her tally to 4. Lough Derg’s keeper got hurt in the game and we wish her all the best.

Scorer: Abbie Lenihan
What a game! The scoreline doesn’t truly reflect how the game played out. With the game only 2 minutes in, Regional caught us with a quick break and our defender collided with their forward in the box and a penalty was awarded from which they successfully scored. We missed a glorious chance to equalise after some great work up the right side. 20 minutes in and they doubled their tally with a well placed shot.
In the 2nd half we upped the tempo and our hard work was rewarded with a goal. We pushed even further forward looking for that elusive equaliser but the Regional defence held strong. With a minute to go the girls all pushed forward and Regional valiantly defended and managed to break away. And with the last kick of the game, they scored their 3rd.
It was a truly entertaining game and either team could have came away victorious. Well done to both sets of players for giving their all and we wish Regional Utd all the best in the competition.

Scorers: Leah Moran 3, Shauna Pearson 2, Aoife Kennedy & Eryn Kennedy
The girls created a little footnote in NTAFC’s history by being the first underage girls team to play in the National Cup.
The girls rose to the occasion by producing an excellent team performance. With a strong wind behind us, the girls attacked from the off but Cahir caught us on the counter attack and scored against the run of play. The girls got straight back into the game when Leah equalised with a fine solo run. Leah scored her 2nd, an exquisite lob over the keeper, in between goals by the Kennedy twins, Aoife and Eryn.
