Derryleigh Diary – July 29 2018

Our Junior B team played against Murroe B in the Rearcross Tournament with Murroe winning 2-1. Paul McEvoy was the NTAFC scorer in the first half. The A’s lost 3-1 to Cappamore. Junior season commences on August 16.

Awards Night:
There was a large turnout for our annual Schoolboy/Schoolgirl awards night in the Community Centre on Friday night. Our non-competitive age groups all received a medal for their hard work at training and representing the club at blitzes. For our competitive teams (U12 to U18) there were 2 categories of awards. One for Most Improved Player of the Year and one for Player of the Year. Congrats to all the winners of the awards and to their teammates and parents who of course played a vital role in helping them achieve it.

Our winners of the most improved player awards were U12B Martin McCabe, U12A Darragh Meaney, U12 Muireann Ryan, U13B Tommy Lyons, U13A Christopher Egan, U13 Meave Gaffrey, U14B Ryan Madden, U14A David Hannon, U14 Nadine Hartigan, U15B Lorcan Delaney, U15A Cillian O’Sullivan, U15 Kate Harvey, U16 John Ryan Rose, U17 Roisin Power, U17 Golden Boot Jack Foley and U18 Golden Boot Devlin Courtney. Our Player of the year awards went to U12B Conor O’Brien, U12A Luke Kennedy, U12 Lauren Bailey, U13B Nathan Bridgman, U13A Alex O’Toole, U13 Shauna Pearson, U14B Mark Forde, U14A Stephen McCormack, U14 Sarah Kelly, U15B Oisin Kennedy, U15A Calum Grant, U15 Eimear Carey, U16 Jack O Carroll, U17 Jasmyne Butler, U17 Colin Coleman, U18 Ben Wixted. Our overall Player of the Year went to Shauna Pearson a Member of our U13 girls. Shauna was also selected as the NTSFL U13 Player of the Year and has also been selected on the North Munster Emerging Talent Program. She was selected to play with U12 Boys in Galway Cup and was a member of the U14 Girls Gaynor Cup. We at NTAFC are very proud of Shauna and are sure we will see great things from her in the future.

Last Man Standing:
Entry is just €10 so be sure to enter before 5pm on Friday, August 10 to be in with a chance to win €500. Make the premiership weekends more interesting, challenge your friends, family, team-mates & work-mates, while supporting the soccer club. If you’d like to play, please text or WhatsApp your name & mobile number to 089-4052382 or give your name, mobile number & payment to any committee member, team manager or player. You can also enter by completing an entry form at O’Sullivan’s Bar, English’s Butchers, Kennedy’s Discount Store or our lotto stand at Centra on Sunday mornings. Payment must be paid before Round 1 begins.

If you haven’t played before, it’s easy. Each game week you will be texted the fixture list, you pick the Premiership team that you think will win their game and text back your selection. If your team wins their game, you are through to the next round. You can’t pick the same team twice. If they lose or draw, then you are out. FAI Summer Soccer Camp:
The second of our FAI Summer camps is approaching. It’s starting on Monday 6th August with only a handful of spaces left. The camp runs Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm and is guaranteed to be a fun filled week. Discounts apply to those who took part in our July Camp. Click here to book online.

Clothes Collection:
Our clothes collection is running for the months of July and August in conjunction with NCBI. Derryleigh Park will be open every Saturday from 10am to 2pm for bags to be dropped off. Thank you to all for the support to date.

There was no winner of our club lotto this week. Numbers drawn were 1, 3, 13, 15. Next week’s draw takes place in Gleeson’s. Next week’s jackpot is €4,050. Thank you to everyone for their continued support.
