Newport Town A.F.C. are deeply saddened with the passing of former player Kevin Bourke. With his wonderful affable and kind personality, his beautiful smiling self, his strength and calmness, his high intelligence and keen wit, he was always a great source of conversation, knowledge, support, and enjoyment in our club dressing room. Indeed, a determined player in either full back position, Kevin oversaw protecting our defence and prevented the strongest opposition from attacking through his hard-battling spirit. He brought these ‘on the field’ battling traits and stoicism to his fight for recovery ‘off the field’. Unfortunately, the full-time whistle came way too soon for Kevin, yesterday. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, at this sad time. Kevin will be deeply missed by all at the soccer club and the wider Newport community. Rest easy Kevin – the ‘heaven eleven’ have gained a top-class full back and a beautiful soul. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
